About Me…

My name is Dennis Kowallek and I am a retired computer programmer. I live near Millville in Hanover Township, Butler County, Ohio and have resided in Butler County since 1981. After retiring, I was bitten by the genealogy bug and have been researching my family history since 2001. I have been an active member of the RootsWeb OHBUTLER-L list since 2002 and the OHHAMILT-L list since 2003. I am currently working on uploading some of my cemetery photos to Find A Grave. In 2003 I contributed to the making of an episode of PBS’s History Detectives, which first aired in 2004. This episode had a Butler County connection. You can see my name listed (as a researcher) in the credits which aired at the end of the show.

For information that is not available elsewhere, I am offering my services as a Butler County researcher to anyone who cannot do their own research in person. This includes:

  • obituary lookups
  • tombstone photos
  • library or archive research
  • etc.

I charge $15 per hour plus expenses (photo copies, etc.). A minimum charge of $10 applies, which generally covers the cost of a single obituary.
